The Chicago GSB was pleased to welcome General Peter Pace, Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the United States, last week. General Pace was recently nominated by President Bush for the nation's top military position, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
"Thank you all for coming. I really don't have that much to say." Admittedly, it was hard for me to believe this, given that the guy saying it was 1) the 2003 winner of the John Bates Clark Medal, 2) author of a book titled Freakonomics, and 3) the source of fascinating and poignant analysis on all kinds of bizarre yet relevant topics.

The Cato Institute hosted an event last Wednesday, May 4, at the Palmer Place Hilton. The Cato Institute, taking its name from papers focused on liberty during the American Revolution, is a non-profit political organization supporting the ideas of personal liberties and minimizing the size of government.
Making tough decisions on the operational, administrative and risk management infrastructure of the investments for the University of Chicago endowment are all part of the job for Joanna Rupp, a GSB grad and Chief Operating Officer for the University's Office of Investments.
