Tom Friedman, the well known international affairs columnist of the New York Times, and I have something in common. Other than both being journalist of respected publications, we both have now had the pleasure of interviewing Nandan Nilekani, current CEO of Infosys.
I decided to mix things up and take an internship a little bit out of the ordinary. When I stumbled on a chance to spend two months in Bangalore, India, I could not pass up an opportunity to check out one of the world's hottest economies for myself. Along the way, I had the pleasure of immersing myself in a culture much different than my own.
On Thursday, October 6th, the GBC sponsored our annual Cold Call Dinner event, spearheaded by 2nd year students Irene Buzyna, Joscelyn Fanelli and Erin Grimes aided by 1st year students Andrew Brown, Erica Davenport and Jean Liang. During the evening, I surveyed about a half dozen of these parties in person and after follow-up conversations, I'm here to not only talk about their success, but also share (slightly embellished) stories of love connections and glass-eating 1st years and 2nd years banned from holding parties ever again under order from the Chicago Police Department....
Friday - Alumni Dinner Rain is an element that is so powerful that it can ruin even the most perfectly planned parties. NOT THIS ONE! ! Even it had to succumb to the power that GSB and its family of alumni, faculty and students exuded on Friday in Millennium Park.
"You mean you would actually consider moving to Arkansas?" I've been asked this a lot lately. And, surprisingly not only to those who ask me, but also to myself, my answer is easily "yes." Do I have family there? No. Had I lived there before? Nope, not that either. What on earth could possibly be such a draw for me there, then?
