Us millennials have it hard. In particular, the choice overload we face with emails platforms is stressful and confusing. I, a slave to this trend, use three different email addresses, but have slowly started to use mainly my @chicagobooth.edu email. We have come to associate our Chicago Booth email with “prestige” versus our lowly personal Gmail account. (OMG: Think about the number of Nobel Prize winners who have used the same email handle!) I am ashamed to admit it, but I still spend significant amounts of my time swiping up and down on my Mail app, choosing the right email handle. Silently I curse myself, hours after the event, for choosing one handle over the other.

I therefore look at Secretary Clinton’s sensible management of her emails with quiet amazement. Not content with managing separate emails and the security provided by the Secret Service, Hillary decided to take her cyber life into her own hands, for “convenience”. Secretary Clinton set up a single email address for both her government and personal communication, ensuring that her emails stayed private from unwelcome, prying eyes, such as those of US Senate committees.

We commend you, Hillary. While we have been struggling to manage our own emails, you have taken the lead. Imagine what you could do for the United States as President!
