Before b-school, even when I was working full-time, I never had this conflict of role as a career driven individual, a husband and a father of three boys. I was called a “superdad” for always balancing out my work and family.  But last month, an hour before my meeting with a recruiter in NYC, my wife called me and told me she was sick. Knowing that she rarely expresses her sickness, I immediately wanted to cancel the meeting and get back to Chicago but she convinced me to stay for the meeting. So I flew out next morning on the earliest flight and took her to hospital. She got well soon but never had a chance to say how sorry and thankful I am for having her as my wife.”
