Booth Rugby Takes Home The “Plunger” Trophy

By Dan Cavanaugh '15

The Booth Rugby Team travelled to Danville, VA for the Duke MBA Rugby World Championships. The team started off with a tie against SMU Cox, but then lost to Harvard’s A team and Tuck. This moved Booth into the consolation bracket, where they lost a close match when Harvard’s B team scored in the final two minutes. After 3 out of 4 games were decided in the final 5 minutes, Booth was determined to finish the tournament with a win, and played their best match against Wharton’s B Team, winning 26-7 and bringing home the “Plunger” Trophy.

Try scorers included Ernesto “El Gato” Sariego, Peter Christman, Dan Cavanaugh, Isaac Song, Aitor Maiz, Jake Gomolinski, and James Jenkins. The team then travelled back to Duke’s campus and donned their best “barbarians” costumes for the final evening social at Shooter’s. It was in one word: Epic.
